Barrel Roll

Competitive Intelligence

A monthly intel report on your top three competitors — pricing changes, new offers, review trends, anything moving in your market. Auto-pulled, human-reviewed, delivered as a PDF you actually read.

What Barrel Roll does

Barrel Roll is a recurring competitive intelligence report, not an autonomous Wingman. Once a month, our backend scrapes your top three competitors' websites and Google Business Profiles, runs the diff through AI, and produces a written summary of what's changed and what it means for you. Before it ships, one of our ops people reviews it for accuracy and adds context. You get a PDF in your inbox on the 1st of every month — pricing moves, new service lines, review velocity, rating drift, GBP post patterns. Nothing exotic, nothing you couldn't dig up yourself if you had the time. The product is that you don't.

Capabilities

Built to do this every day.

01

Monthly competitor scrape

Cron-driven pull of each tracked competitor's website (services, pricing pages, hours, team) and their Google Business Profile (reviews, photos, posts, rating). Stored so we can diff month-over-month.

02

Pricing + offer change detection

the AI reads the diff and flags anything that's moved — a new service added, a price page change, a special promotion, a new finance partner.

03

Review sentiment trend

Tracks each competitor's review velocity, average rating, and recurring complaint themes. Useful to know if a competitor is having a quality slip you can capitalize on.

04

Human ops review

Before any report ships, an ops reviewer reads it for accuracy and adds a short 'what this means for you' note. We don't ship raw AI output as a deliverable.

05

Quarterly local-market scan

Once a quarter, a broader sweep — new entrants in your service area, GBP-listed businesses you may not have known about, market saturation signals.

06

Owner-friendly PDF, not a dashboard

Delivered as a 4-6 page PDF written in plain English. No dashboard logins, no charts you have to interpret yourself.

On the job

Just a glimpse of what Barrel Roll handles.

Barrel Roll turns competitor research from a forgotten side-task into a continuous read on the local market.

In the field

Real scenarios.

Competitor just dropped their prices

Your closest competitor quietly lowered their diagnostic fee from $89 to $49 — and you'd have no idea unless you happened to check their site.

Barrel Roll's monthly report flags the change, notes the date it appeared, and reminds you that your last 30 days of quote-stage drop-offs increased by 12%. The ops note suggests either a counter-move or a value-anchor adjustment on your own pricing page.

Your top competitor is bleeding reviews

The big incumbent in your zip code has been picking up consistent 1-star reviews about scheduling for the past two months.

Barrel Roll surfaces the trend in the next report and pulls representative review snippets. Charles (if you've got him) folds this into your next quarterly briefing as an offensive opportunity; if not, the ops note flags it for you directly.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is this just a service? +

Yes — and that's the right framing. The Wingman branding is for consistency across the product; the actual delivery is a cron-driven scrape, a AI analysis, an ops review, and a PDF in your inbox. We're not pretending it's an autonomous agent.

What's different from the v1 tier? +

v1 Wingmen run inside your account and act on every lead. Barrel Roll runs entirely on our backend and delivers a written artifact. No your CRM footprint, no automation in your workflows.

What's the SLA? +

Report in your inbox by the 5th of each month. If we miss it, that month is comped. If a scrape genuinely can't be completed (competitor blocked us, site offline both attempts), we tell you in the report rather than fake it.

Can I add or swap competitors later? +

Yes — three tracked at a time, swappable once per quarter. Need more? Solo Act can quote a custom intel engagement.

Is the scraping ToS-friendly? +

We only scrape public-facing pages and public Google Business data. We respect robots.txt and back off on rate limits. If a competitor explicitly blocks us, we say so in the report.
